Hello, I am Adel, a journalist, a content writer, and a linguistics enthusiast (Ukrainian, English, Russian, Korean) … and many, many other things ending in “-ist” (like BA of Communicationist, stay-at-home momist, etc.).

Like me, I’m sure you also wear many different hats, or “roles,” in your day-to-day life. Some hats are more important to us than others; some get to be worn only in one season. Some have never been worn before, but now you’re glued to them forever.

Mmm, my “First-Time Mama” hat. Once upon a time, there was a mama, and she was a first-time mom. Suddenly, she was supposed to “know” her child, follow her “heart and intuition,” and distinguish good advice from the pool of mom trends, books, tales, stories, scientific facts, and family members and neighbors telling her what to do.

“Of course I want to hear it,” she replied to every piece of unsolicited advice. “And what am I supposed to do with it now?” she wondered, as she tried to fit each piece of information into the puzzle of How to Be a Mom.

After collecting many pieces of advice along the way, she decided “it was enough.” And, true to her journalistic nature, she went down the rabbit hole of research.

And she never came back.

She went all the way back to the origins of motherhood, seeking something natural, intertwined with science and fueled by a big love for this new, tiny human.

That Mom Who Overthinks decided to uncover the truth: untrended, unbiased, and uninfluenced.
